Gateway to West Bay Beach
EMERALD BEACH... Great weather year 'round, with crystal clear, turquoise blue, warm Caribbean Sea waters, and outstanding Sunsets. Paradise available... Private road access for property owners to West Bay Beach - the Best Beach on Roatan, many believe the entire Caribbean. Emerald Beach is just a little 'slice' of West Bay Beach, but it guarantees Property Owners unrestricted access to the entire West Bay Beach.
The Honduran beaches are public, by law. However, there is no law guaranteeing access. Access to West Bay Beach is getting very limited, with only two public access points that are being regulated by the Resorts. If you are from a Cruise Ship, you can pay a fee and they will take you to the well-known Tabyana Beach, located at the far end of West Bay Beach. Or, if you are vacationing at one of the several West Bay Resorts, access to the Beach would be easy. Otherwise, access to West Bay Beach is becoming very difficult.
The EMERALD BEACH Swimming Area is cordoned off with rope and floats for protection from an errant boat while swimming, floating or just playing in the warm waters. This makes it a great area where Children Play In Safety. Also, as you can see, the soft, sandy bottom extends out quite a distance.
As you will notice, there are not many 'tourists' in our area. This is because Tabyana Beach, the most visited part of West Bay Beach, is located at the far end of West Bay Beach. Emerald Beach is located at the upper end of West Bay Beach and is, therefore, relatively free of people.
Water Taxi's are available to take you on a SHORT 10 minute, 3 mile trip to West End Village, the 'Entertainment Capital' of Roatan. It is also known as 'Gringo Central'. Lots of 'Action' with bars, restaurants, shops, etc. For an Exciting 'Night Life', West End Village can also be accessed by a leisurely 45 minute walk up the beach.
Here is the view that you will get 'most every evening. This is right off Our 'Front Porch', the Emerald Beach Commons Area. During our many Dramatic Sunsets, sometimes there is a 'green flash' just as it dips below the horizon. Don't know why, but it is sure cool. Doesn't Get Much Better Than This!!
